Schedule for Students

The Rhode Island Consortium for Educators (RICE) is an association of six Rhode Island colleges and universities, formed to help you develop contacts for jobs in education. Each year representatives from member schools work together to plan the annual Education Fair.
The format of the RICE Education Career Fair consists of morning check-in at registration desk, interview sign-ups and networking followed by actual interviews. Registration is required prior to attending the event!

FEATURES of the RICE Education Career Fair:
• Attracts schools nationwide.
• Provides unique structured format: Interview Sign-up and Networking, followed by actual Interviews.
• Offers opportunity to schedule on-site interviews. On average most schools conduct 15-minute individual interviews. However other formats have been utilized such as group interviews or 30 minute interviews.
• Informs of anticipated hiring needs of employers on RICE website.

INTERVIEWS at the RICE Education Career Fair:
• Interviews are scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis.
• Schedules are determined by the interviews that you are able to secure during the Interview Sign-up and Networking segment.
• Add interviews during the day at the Add/Drop Table, if interview time slots are open.
• If unable to sign-up for an interview you can leave your resume with the interviewer during the morning networking segment.

Candidate Responsibilities:
• Be prepared: Attend an Orientation Session at your school. Review Essential Preparation section on website. Read school district websites for additional information.
• View School District Anticipated Hiring Needs before going to the fair.
• Check website frequently for updates and changes (especially to anticipated hiring needs). Recruiters tend to list and update their information closer to the job fair date.
• Know testing and certification requirements for state(s) in which you are interested. Check individual states Department of Education website for up-to-date requirements. A list is available in your AAEE Teacher Job Search Handbook.
