What is Duke Career Week?
Duke Career Week is a week of career discussions, mentoring dinners and events, leading up to a full day of workshops and networking on Saturday, January 29, 2005. It involves the entire Duke career community, including alumni, faculty, staff and employers. Click here to see last year’s comments from students and alumni.
Purpose
• Prepare participants to address career issues
• Help participants explore the possibilities for life after Duke
• Connect participants with alumni, faculty and staff who want to help them with all aspects of their career search
Goals
• Build and support the Duke career community made up of undergraduates, graduate and professional students, alumni, faculty, administrators, and employers
• Introduce employers with internships, summer opportunities, and full-time jobs
• Encourage mentoring and networking
• Showcase the myriad career choices available
• Share strategies and suggestions for success
• Provide opportunities for reflection about complex career-related issues
• MAKE CONNECTIONS
Who Should Attend?
Undergraduates and graduate students in all years are strongly encouraged to attend.* Recent alumni may also find Career Week helpful. Participants attend Career Week for different reasons. Some simply want to know the options available to them after graduation; some want to hear the stories of challenges and triumphs; others want to network their way to a job.
What will it cost?
Thanks to our sponsors, Career Week events are free to all who register.
*Exception: Wine Tasting & Etiquette Dinner. This program is open to seniors only. Fee is $25.00. You may use your food points, flex cash, or check to make your purchase. Please note that this is a significantly reduced fee, thanks to the donations of our sponsors.
How do I Register?
Registration will begin Monday, January 3, 2005. Your confirmation e-mail will give you the opportunity to change, cancel, or add to your registration. Due to extraordinary student response last year, we want to emphasize the importance of updating your registration if your plans change. It is likely another student will fill your spot.
