What can you do as a volunteer for Duke Career Week?

  • Be a Model . Work with student Co-Directors to help implement the "Dress for Success" Career Fashion by being a model. Male and female models of all sizes are needed! Models will wear borrowed attire from various retail stores in the Triangle Area. The scenes which we need models are: Interview/Work attire, Casual Friday, Picnic/summer wear, Sporting wear, and Evening Wear. This event promises to be a lot of fun and educational for students.
  • Be a Workshop Panel Liaison . As a liaison, you contact the speakers on your panel to ensure that all of their needs are taken care of prior to Duke Career Week. You will be their point of contact to answer questions such as directions to campus, where to park, where to go when I get to campus, and other logistical questions. In addition, you may also provide insight to help them prepare for their workshop by providing sample questions that students might want to ask.
  • Be a Host or Hostess . During Duke Career Week, we will need plenty of students in place to help guide students and speakers to where they need to go. We are anticipating over 200 alumni and more than 1000 students taking part in Career Week. Our host and hostesses will help to make sure the event runs smoothly and greet people as they arrive. Hosts will also take care of workshop locations by making sure that technical equipment (e.g. microphones) are working, water is available for speakers, and speakers know where restrooms are located and other logistics.
Interested Students will
  • Have a strong willingness to help!
